bait traps

So i live in ohio and i was wondering if iam on the beach where should i put my trap? just like throw it as far as possible? cause idk where to put the trap.btw im talking about lake erie. and if im at the river where do i put it? shallow strong current, deep strong current, shallow very little current, deep very little current.

Anywhere you see lots of batifish, what kind are you after?
Structure in shallow water always produces something.

im trying to catch a decent 3-6" fish.
im actaully using three 2 liter bottles that i turned into a bait trap for only $3
