Sodium bicarbonate is the usual one. Baking Soda. Go lightly, you won't need much.

Soda...this will only be a temp fix though.. I finally added a whole bunch of crushed coral to my sump so i didn't have to add Baking Soda all the time..

can i put crushed coral in my sump i have a 210 setu with a 55 gallon tank for the sump with an rubermaid tower with two drawers in it. with bio balls in the top also some filter pads. the second has bio balls an sponges. i was going to use the bottom tank to house plants an such to help with the nitrates or was it nitrites cant remeber but it should help on the water changes. i was just going to use the soda to get the ph upp initally cause i have a lot of small clam like shells all in the tank from where i used river sand an gravel dredged out of my local river. i also got my rocks that are goin into this tank from the river also.

probably best not to jack around with the PH IMO. cichlids will do fine in ph 7, the fluctuations in ph will be more stressful using baking soda each waterchange. I use a piece of limestone in my front tanks and my water is about 7.2 and really soft. I add a little epsom salt occasionally to increase the hardness and clean them out and thats it.

my ph usally stays around 7.2 to 7.4 so im just useing the soda to get it started an i have some small muscle shells all threw out my tank so that will help to hold the ph. plus im going to get some crushed coral for my wet/dry sump tank.
