Baking POWDER

I just checked my ph and it was below 6.0 i heard baking SODA will raise it and crushed coral... I have neither of these... Will baking POWDER work or will it harm the fish

Baking powder and baking soda are two completely different chemicals. Baking soda will buffer and raise pH. Baking powder will make you a nice cake...
 
I would not put either baking soda or powder in my tank, personally. Especially powder. If you're in NY, anywhere near the city, there are LFSs where you can get crushed coral or lace rock or sand that will up your PH safely. Not expensive.
 
Yes, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) works very well. I typically add 1 tbsp/10 gallons every month or so. You don't want to just add it all at once, because the osmotic pressure difference can shock the fauna in the tank, including the beneficial bacteria, (or so I've heard).
 
It won't necessarily shock the fauna, it just has the potential to because they're not used to the increased osmotic pressure. It works perfectly fine for my mbuna.
