I'm finally moving to a new apartment in about 2 months and I'll be upgrading my tank. I intend to have a high bioload so I wanna have a v.v.v.powerful filtration system. I some help with the design of my filtration system. Thanks in advance for any replies or advice from fellow MFKers!
The system will be a combination of a Bakki Shower IOS and a sump. The tank will be 6/7'x2.5'x2.5'.
The overflow will be as long as the tank is wide, 75cm high and 15cm wide. I.e. overflow dimensions are 75cmx15cmx75cm (LxWxH) or 2.5'x0.5'x2.5'. The overflow will have 3 levels of Bacteria House (from hereon refered to as BH)about 20cm apart with fans at the top for aeration (there will have to be slits cut about the fans in the hood).
Here's a poor pic of my idea for the design of the Bakki Shower IOF. Please excuse my graphic design skills (or lack thereof)
The reason I wanna have the slanted glass pieces at the bottom of the overflow is so that dirt doesn't collect in the corners of the overflow and it's easier to clean. Is it possible to do this with glass and will it be strong enough to support the stainless steel frame holding the BH up and 2-3kb of BH?
BH claims that filter wool is not necessary as the BH will take care of mechanical filtration, so I don't plan to use wool. Reason being that I want as much aeration as possible from the overhead fans and I want to maximize the showering effect necessary for the Bakki Shower to work properly. Does anyone have experience with / opinions on this kind of overflow system? Please share...
Thanks again for reading my (probably too long ) post and helping me out!
