I have a Bala Shark at 5" and would like to know if it's common for them to pick on silver dollars. My silver dollars are 6" and 4.5"

I have kept bala sharks for a long time. I have kept 8" ones with ghost shrimp, guppies, and countless other fish. Unless you keep them with fry, I wouldn't be worried. They are really nice fish. The one thing I would change is looking at your tanks, they will eventually be too small for a full grown bala (I would say 6ft lenght minimum)

I have never had aggression problems with balas but unless they are kept in groups they do tend to stir up the other fish. It is not aggression, just hyperactivity.

My 3 balas live in a big 210 gallon community tank, they are very peaceful with other fish, but they chase each other around like mad idiots! I guess they are just seeing who's the boss.

My 8" bala shark ate my tetra yesterday.....I bought 3 and came home that night and had 2....Now I don't keep tetras with balas.

Almost any 8" fish will eat small tetras or guppies, that is not aggression, it is predation.

IME bala's are really peaceful, active fish. They are pretty good tankmates as dithers for fish that aren't fast enough to catch them.

Will have to get a video once camera has batteries. It only when feeding and only towards silver dollars. The bala chases them around and starts to almost suck on them.
