Purchased a bala shark from an lfs about 2 months ago at about 3 1/2 inches and he was already big top to bottom and now hes pencil thin. Hes the first one at the top eating and going crazy always and swims alot hes with small GT, 2xEBA and 2xFM cichlids a pictus cat and 6xlarge black skirt tetras. Ive never seen him being picked on or chased and never has had a slit in his fin like he was nipped
Pic of him in the bag the day i got him vs right now

Have you noticed any white stringy poop?

Might just be how it grows. A lot of fish put on length before gaining weight to match it, though that’s thinner than I’d expect.

they need to be fed small amounts frequently as, from my understanding, they don't really have a stomach. do you feed zucchini? mine love that stuff

I know that fish grow differently but i dont think he would just get skinny because he was girthy when i got him

Feeding frequently could he a good idea since I usually do 1 big feeding a day. Ive tried zucchini but all the fish usually ignore it

If it’s not a feeding issue then try some levamisole.

Would seachem paraguard work the same?

No. Levamisole HCL is a dewormer that can be absorbed through the skin to deal with nematodes or roundworm infections. You can find it under the name brand Fritz Expel-P. If that doesn't work, you could try API General Cure (or Fritz Paracleanse) which treats for a different internal parasite. Metronidazole in General Cure is best used if the fish eats it.
