Bala Sharks endangered?

Am I out of the loop or what? I just learned Bala Sharks are on the endangered list......?
Is this true?

It's been quite a while from what I understand,they are captive bred for the hobby.
 
The bala shark, Balantiocheilos melanopterus, is listed in the IUCN Red List as being Endangered and possibly extinct in some areas of its native Sumatra. Balas reaching the pet markets are commercially farmed in Indonesia and Thailand.
 
I just saw a near ten incher in a shop the other day.It was priced at fifty U.S.dollars.
 
I doubt it.
