I recently added an albino oscar, jack dempsey, and leperonis fasicatus (SP) about a month ago and ever since then the fins of my bala sharks have been tethered, and I am pretty sure its the leperonis because he is constantly chasing and nipping at the sharks. So I am probably going to have to trade in to the lfs tomorrow, has anyone had any experience with this. From what I read they get along but I guess not.

Thanks

My Bala's used to have perfect fins, but recently i bought an oscar and he destroyed their fins, luckily their healing fairly fast :D. That Oscar was gone after 3 days, I couldn't take anymore. But it would make sense for it being the Leporinus, they're notorious fin nippers, but I also see you have a red-tailed shark, he could be contributing a little too.

Yea, the leperonis fasicatus tend to be nippy. I got three from private sellers who said that to me when I got them. I got two 9 inch leperonis fasicatus for $10 and got a smaller one for free. I got them for a deal because the sellers did not want them.

It is the l eoparnus get him out of there or the shark willl be killed, I use to keep leaporanus with agressive mbuna Africam Cichlids and they held there own very well. They are also notorius eye-eaters. Oscars are not that agressive and are pretty slow compared to the balas.

its guaranteed the leperonis, i had one that all he would do is nip fins so i got rid of him
