how do you balance the flow of the pump going into the tank and the water coming out of the overflow into the sump? i heard taht if you dont balance taht out , your sump can over flow or you tank can over flow and flood ur whole house?

if your overflow flows more than your pump can return, it wont overflow.
if the pump is more powerful than the overflow, it can either pump too much back into the tank or cavitate the pump.
as long as the overflow is rated higher than the pump, you're ok.

sorry i dont understand you. you said "that if your overflow flows more than your pump can return, it wont overflow." and then at the end you said "as long as the overflow is rated higher than the pump, you're ok"

you said that the over flow wont overflow if the overflow rate is higher than the pump rate is smaller then you said i'll be ok if the over flow rate was higher than the pump rate.:)

he means that if your overflow SYSTEM flows more that the pump then your TANK wont overflow

I just use a gate valve on the outflow side of the pump. This is because I use one big external pump to power everything, returns, UV, etc. instead of several smaller pumps.

If your overflow can handle more than the return you are fine....

If the return rate is faster than the overflow then you can pump the sump dry & overflow the tank.
