if i have a siphon over flow box going to a..., lets say 40 gallon sump/wet/dry filter. how do i get perfect balance of water in it. so if the water is flowing in a little big faster than the pump is pumping out it going to overflow every where eventually, right? Or if the pump is pulling out faster than you pumping in its going to get to low. so whats the secret. Im new to this so take it easy.

just make sure that the pump flows less gph than the overflow. You know that if your tankstarts to overflow that the overflow box is too small. Also watch those cheap overflows on ebay I learned that they are not rated for what they are advertised. Stick with a CPR or Esopps

this sump is going to be open and not air tight

Yea that is the way it should be. You will probably need 2 overflow boxes because I think the biggest box you can get is 1500gph. So it depends on how may times you want to turnover in an hour. EX. On my 300g I used a 1200gph overflow and a 600gph overflow and ran it with a Magdrive 18 pump. I have very large fish and a 55g sump. My tank is spotless

ok. im also going to have a fx5 on the tank too. It is a 240 gallon tank. so if i was just to go with one box and one pump what do you suggest. also how big do u suggest for the sump tank
