Can anybody explain a sure fire way to maintain the perfect balance of water going in and water going out of your sump? Also, somebody make a post about how to build and calibrate your sump/refugium that is so awesome it becomes a STICKY! :headbang2 I know that there are some sumpinators out there that can do this, and I'm not one of them yet. :(

To keep a perfect balance is actually extremely simple. Water coming into the sump is regulated by your pump and overflow box. As long as your overflow box can handle the amount of water your pump is moving there should be no problems. So the water leaving the sump, which is being pumped out, goes into the tank and in return dumps right back into your sump.

exactly. The overflow will put in the sump what the pump displaces in the tank.

Make sure your overflow has the capability of flowing more than your pump and you're good:)
