Okay. So we just upgraded my fish to a 100 gal and now we have an empty tank. Empty tanks make me depressed so I wanna fill it.

My dad wants either a small saltwater fish community or a jackson's chameleon. Both of which are cool and all and I'd love to have them, but I've been begging my parents for another snake for some time now, specifically a ball python.

So I have 2 questions.

1: Gimme some ways of convincing my parents to get a BP. I plan on paying for the snake by myself, btw. I already have a good $100 toward it.

2: What's the maximum size BP that can be housed in a 16 gal tall? I mean obviously it'd be temporary but we just moved and I have no room for a 30 gal right now. There's a juv at the pet store nearby for $80, looks about a foot or two long. would that be good?

it would be fine for an extremely short period of time but i'd wait to get a bigger tank

Go defenetly for the ball python;) One of the greatest snakes to have to bad they are ilegal here:( By the way dont use a normal glass cage for a jackson cham:grinno: and dont forget that for this guys to do real well in the long term they need a nigth time drop in temps to the 10 celcius. A cooler is needed. If you ask me i think yemen chams are a much hardier choice and just as pretty and much more color full. If your going to have a pet cham allways select a male

Thing is my dad doesn't want a chameleon unless it's a jackson's. He loves all chameleons, but the horns are what makes him want them as a pet.

and unfortunately, i don't think my parents would be too keen on buying ANOTHER tank. we have 6 right now, and they'd want me to use the ones we have first. ill try to get a pic of the empty tank soon, when my dad's not around so he doesnt know im conspiring XD

the 16 tall cant house anything, unless you wan't an absolute baby, and sorry im not even allowed snakes, i can't help you convince ur rents:P
and why don't you want a Jackson's?

i think a min. tank size for a ball is a 40 breeder,

does a 16 Tall has the same footprint of a 10 gal? if so it will house a baby ball python for up to a year with no problems. If you put a hatchling in a 40 breeder it probably would be too stressed to eat. A 40 breeder can house an adult BP.

What i always did for getting new herps was I would buy them and the when they asked me what it was I would tell them I had it for like a month and they would be like oh okay and not care anymore or just say you had to upgrade tank size. And what are the dimensions for a 16 tall?

yeah i know thats why i put that to, he said the ball was about 2 feet so that one would be fine in the 40 breeder
