Thought somebody may find this interesting!

I wanted a ball valve to shut off waterflow during filter cleaning.

Cost under 15 dollars.

Sorry about the double I ment to click manage att. and I thought I clicked back in time and I guess not. Ill keep this one going.

Good Job. Luckly, my Fx5 has valves :)

It looks good but you might want to look for some plastic fittings to replace the brass fittings. Over time those fittings can be bad for your aquarium.

Really I asked that question on another thread and everyone said it was ok for freshwater. Ill look into it more.

It is ok to use. Copper and brass I think leach the same heavy metal, copper. Not quick enough to cause issues though. With weekly or bi-weekly water changes there is no harm. Your water comes from copper pipes correct? :)

it is true a portion of the piping is copper but I don't think the mains are. I do weekly 1/3 water changes if I would have known I could use popper with regular water changes I would have I can get it alot cheaper than pvc.

I have always heard that they are bad to use in aquariums, I have no data to back this up though. All I know is that I'm not willing to risk it in my tanks, it's too easy to just use pvc and not have to worry about it. For all I know it may be fine and never hurt a thing, it just isn't worth the risk to me.

As for our water coming through copper lines that is true, however it goes through it once and it is finished. If we have it in our systems then it goes through it over and over again. Again, it may not hurt anything but why risk it?

Everyone will find something bad about something in the aquaria hobby. Even if it took 100 years for copper or brass fittings to leach anything, they would still says its bad for the aquarium. Many are using brass fittings, as I am, without issues.
