Not sure if the balloon terrors are product of hybridization or selective breeding, but I thought I would post my question here. is the temperament of balloon gt any different then normal gt?

Wait, the ballon green terror is actually a parrot fish cross? I never would have guessed that.
I am setting up a parrot fish tank more or less. I am going to pick up a fh parrot and a king kong (at least thats what is labeled) parrot this weekend. If the ballon is a parrot cross as well I will have to get one.

Generally Ballon traits as we have seen in "Baloon Mollies" comes from rasising the fry in a tank heavy in Zinc. (I think it's Zinc). This concentrate causes a deformity, Sad story for the poor fish IMO. I don't think that cross breeding between a GT and a BP is possible.
Its a genetic mutation not a cross. Many fish can be like this and they breed true so im not sure if it is anything to do with zinc.I have seen balloon convicts, firemouth, green terror, geophagus, jack dempsey, oscar, ram etc etc
wow, looks like they have bloat or scale protrusion... my con had it once and it swelled up like that...still, looks very...odd...i've never seen those before.
