I saw some pink convicts at a LFS and they were short and stubby, kind of like those balloon mollies. Are these balloon convicts cross breeds? How do they get them short and stubby like that?

I think their called Jelly Bean Parrots or Convicts. They're a hybrid of the two.

I have seen these at the lfs labeled "jellybean cichlids " They appear to be parrot/convict hybrids, I almost bought a really nice breeding pair! I like them !

They have a pair at the lfs that bred in the tank, they have really nice color and don't appear to be dyed. how big do they usually get?

they'll probably grow to the 4-6" range, most likely staying closer to 4". :)

ps. gonna move this to the hybrid forum.

Right on JS ! I agree, the female gets some cool coloring on her, I like these more than the striped convicts and they stay a pretty nice (but sadly non-monster) size!

Are they aggressive? the pair in the store didnt seem that aggressive when they were defending their eggs but they are still pretty small.

They are cichlids and a Convict Hybrid none the less. I would say they are probably aggressive.
