Hi guys. Here are some updated pictures of my Gymnogeophagus balzanii. His head is becoming nice and rounded.

Hi there.. Nice looking fish.. I'm really starting to like the Balzani... Is he in there all by himself with the tetras?? What size tank.. Do you plan on getting him some friends or do you already have some in another tank.. I thought you had a 120 with balzani in it but maybe I am mistaking you for someone else.. Nice setup..:clap I'm working on a 120 4x2x2 setup myself for geos. Good luck with your tank. Sue:D

He's not all by himself. You are correct, I have a 120 gallon dedicated to fish from Uruguay. Aside from the tetras, there is a pair of Gymnogeophagus cuareim and a pair of Crenicichla minuano, as well as some cory cats. Good luck on your 120. Geos are awesome fish.

Thank you. He's about 5-6 inches. I don't know how old he is because I bought him at around the same size only a couple months ago.

Nice! get him a few girlfriends

Yeah, I definitely want to get him some females. The hard part is finding them at a decent size. I'm growing out some smaller balzanii, but they are too small to sex.

how is the minuano doing??? I was thinking of getting one. I also read somewhere that they are very docile toward others, even conspecifics.

Nice setup and beautiful fish! Why not throw in a bunch more - I thought they are best kept as one male and several females?

I just got a group (8) and they are becoming my favorite in the tank!

Ken Davis (aka. fishfarmusa) has loads of fish from Uruguay and I've always had excellent experience with him.
