Hey Everybody, I have some Q's about Bamboo in the tank.I have read that lucky Bamboo is ok in tank....But I don't know if that is a special variant ( I am thinkin its the dwarf twisty type that gets sold in the little desk bowl with marbles?) Anyway I have a mini forrest of giant Bamboo in My back Yard is this Ok? if so does it just need root submersion or does it have to be in gravel? I have had good luck w/pothos hanging from the top with just roots in the water and would like to add more of something different....I also have papyrus growing in the Yard and have seen some tanks with it but dont know anything about requirements. My tanks are in the garage and get some window light ...Not interested in lighting upgrades so I am looking for suggestions on Natural light- easy maintanence -Festae proof nitrate suckers.sorry for ramblin ...Thanks

My betta fish acted very weird when i kept this lucky bamboo in his tank. I think it is not a good idea to keep it in fish tanks.

I have kept lucky bamboo in a 10 gal tank with fish. It's not an aquatic plant, but grow well with the stems submerged and leaves above water. Roots will develop in the submerged stem but submerged leaves will slowly die off. Lucky bamboo needs only diffused light, and direct sunlight will burn the leaves. One growth characteristic of lucky bamboo is that it has to keep growing up and up as pruning it down will eventually kill it. You do not need to grow lucky bamboo with soil or gravel. I tied mine with a fish line to a piece of rock.

Yep, the correct way to grow it with water is to just grow the leaves above water and leave the bottom stem submerged.
