So will this stuff rot away if it is competely sumerged! I have 20 stalks on 1 side of my tank and they are all under water for 6 months. They seem to be doing fine, should i take them out right away!

WHat do you mean by "right away" if they've been in there 6 months already?

The bamboo will eventually decay and have to be replaced. The average usage in a heated aquarium is 1.5 to 2 years.

as in lucky bamboo stuff? nah, it does great for a while. it is best to have some out of water though, but if it grows...

i think it is better in cooler water which is why it wont last indefinately. ive had some in my tanks before. is good, and cheap

Thanks Oddball pleased to hear from you.
So you are saying to leave it in there as long as the stuff is not rotting?
1 and half years sounds really good and it sure seems to be doing well with no light! Its been 6 months and the bamboo stalks have new roots and seem to be doing fine! Water quality is good also but could be better, thats why i was thinking the bamboo was rotting.

The plant will do fine under water for a long time. It will however try to grow out of the water. This is a plant that is better suited with the leaves terrestrial, and the roots submerged.

Thanks bro will the bamboo do fine and live in no light?

No. It will do fine in a small vase with water and some marbles in a window sill though. It will still need light for the photosyntesis process.

Does bamboo help much with nutrient removal?

some of the best nitrogen removers are surface plants. also when i normally kept this bamboo out of tanks, is usually in 3-6 inches of water, with a lot out of water.
