mine passed away.. but he was finally identified by a college professor in miami.. as a Brachyhypopomus Brevirostris knife.. thats why i say make sure everyone that the knife you have is ID'd so you can put it with the right tank mates etc.. here is another pic of mine.. View attachment 431793

From the first pic I thought it was from a family Gymnotidae as the mouth wasn't clear. The second pics tells the difference as the mouth is not even close to a Gymnotidae. Your's from family Hypopomidae.

The mouth of Gymnotidae are facing upward and except for the electric eel.

I might have to disagree with you. I personally have 3 carapos and compare to zebra and tiger which are more fin nipper, carapos are more shy and will hide a lot. They are more likely to get beaten up or picked on than Tiger knifefish which will fight back if being picked on.

As for the OP, those tank mates should be fine. I'll be worry about the barracuda as I don't know which species of barracuda you have. The red tail paraya might kill it when it outgrows the barracuda. If that's a yellow tail barracuda then it should be fine as they grow bigger, but if that's a red tail barracuda then it might get eaten in the future.

it is a yellow tailed barracuda and i dont think it will have any problems since it stays up at the top of the tank were the gar is and goes to the lower levels every once in a while or during feeding time my silverdollars are the only fishes in the middle levels of the tank.
