would a 8" long banded knife fish get along with my 8" barracuda,8"red tailed payara, needle nosed gar and three silver dollars and a small fire eel?

The "Banded Knife" fish or Carapo Knife can be very aggressive, especially at the size you have yours at, and may nip at fins of other fish or worse. Or the tank mates will pick on him. But this is just my opinion.![]()

there are so many different species of these knifes..some unknown.. make sure you have positive ID on all of them..King-eL;3632281; said:I might have to disagree with you. I personally have 3 carapos and compare to zebra and tiger which are more fin nipper, carapos are more shy and will hide a lot. They are more likely to get beaten up or picked on than Tiger knifefish which will fight back if being picked on.
As for the OP, those tank mates should be fine. I'll be worry about the barracuda as I don't know which species of barracuda you have. The red tail paraya might kill it when it outgrows the barracuda. If that's a yellow tail barracuda then it should be fine as they grow bigger, but if that's a red tail barracuda then it might get eaten in the future.
