Great video! Hands down my favorite freshwater fish!
I hope to one day get a tank devoted to only them, and hopefully get some breeding going!
I’d personally not keep them with any of the more peaceful cichlids like sev or choc. Too mean, once my sev grew too close in size to my lep, he would not stop harassing it. I had to move the sev out to keep it from inevitably getting killed.
Mine also harassed silver dollars and took out 2 balas.
I did keep mine with a piranha for a year in a 55 gallon. Actually went rather well compared to what you’d expect (the leporinus didn’t die). Eventually I lost the piranha to what I think was a head concussion from slamming into the glass too hard (likely due to an attack from the leporinus). The two were constantly battling for dominance, fights rarely got super bad. It helped that the lep was much larger. There was one bad fight there, where my lep got his honorary name “Deadeye”…after having his eye bit off by the piranha.

These things are tough as nails though!
They have the same dominance driven complex as a cichlid if kept alone and shred any competition, so other fish definitely need to be able to fight back.
