Have you ever wondered why your team sucks and wished your team was as good as a team from another division? It can be! Stop apologizing for your team's inadequacies. Sure, they lost half their games by one point and would be 12-0 if only they made 6 more plays. Guess what! They didn't, and your team sucks.
The key to being a sports fan is to stop being loyal. Your loyalty only rings up the dollars for them and doesn't hold them accountable for their mistakes. Let me give you an example:
The Milwaukee Brewers have one of the highest attendance level averages over the last 10 years in baseball. Excepting this year, they have been Little League quality, but yet the fans keep going and get praised for their loyalty. Why? Loyalty is easy to cling to, but it doesn't say much about intelligence. Like sheep continuing to wander to a feeder that hasn't had food in it for years, the Brewers fans continue to pay.
For example: I am a big fan of Mobil One oil. I use it in my car, I abuse the hell out of my car, and it keeps on running. Many Race teams use Mobil One, and I have been satisfied as well. My loyalty only goes as far as performance. If I keep using Mobil One, and all of a sudden they change the formula and I blow 3 engines in two years, should I keep using it because of loyalty?
Stop buying into your team. Support them when they do their job and rip them when they don't. Join me in being a bandwagon jumper. Here's what you need to do:
Two years ago the Twins were doing poorly and I had given up on them after a few weeks. They never sign quality free agents and rely on getting lucky with below average players hoping they will exceed expectations. I wouldn't even consider buying a ticket to their drivel, and would pass over them on TV like a Hannah Montana concert. Then, after the All-Star break, they actually did over-achieve. Justin Morneau played at an MVP level, and he's a Canadian! Joe Mauer snatched the batting title. I bought tickets to see quality while earlier I had shunned their product because it was a poor quality item. They actually battled back from an insurmountable hole to win the division! I was a Twins fan again! THEN: They blew it in the playoffs because the overachievers became underachievers once again. GO Yankees!
You see, you don't have to suffer with your team's poor performance. You pay money for admission and products and deserve quality performance. The minute you don't recieve what you deserve, join me on the bandwagon, there is always room.
The Falcons look good and have a great running game. Their rookie QB is looking like the best QB taken in a while. All you Lions fans, Bears fans, Bengals fans, Chargers fans, all of you who have suffered massive dissapointment, it's time to shift your loyalty, because your team hasn't earned it. Falcons for the win!
Disclaimer: If the Falcons lose, I'll update this thread so you know who your new favorite team is.
