I'm currently looking for something with a 6ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft layout. Looking for a used tank within 200 miles of 37743. Assuming a find the tank for reasonable price. I need some suggestions on a killer filtration. Ehiem's, fluvals, whatever. Filters, powerheads, the works! What's the most killer bang for the buck. Looking at payara (vampire fish) or maybe a tigerfish. So current is a must and adjusting it would be even better. This tank will more than likely be used for one fish, clean tank. No substrate or nething. Maybe sand but doubt it. I just wanna see what I can do with a one of these predators. Altho a tigerfish is out of the question size wise in the long run unless there is a smaller species. So there's what I want. What it will be used for. Throw out the suggestions!! remember. BANG 4 THE BUCK!!

I'll give it a go. Aquaclear 70 powerheads (3) for water movement or the Koralia 1400's.

Filtration is a matter of preference. I like the aquaclear 110's for ease of cleaning. That size tank could fit 3 with a canister underneath. Or you could go with a fluval fx5 to cover the whole thing and forget about AC110's, or you could go with a 75gal sump. There are a lot of options. Its all about preference and looks.
you could also go with a combination of all three.
Best Bang for the buck, would probably be a sump or a fx5.

I have a couple ac500's. I think there the old school version of the 110's. But they a little loud. Need to try to fix em but not sure how. Fx5's r nice but I know nothing about them. There is a member damon who has a setup I love. I will link the thread na bit. He's running 3 ehiems on a ?? Tank. Love it. But looks pricey. I also thought about getting a 100 gallon or something and sayin to hell with payara and atf and going for a pirahna. Black rhom or something. So many options in that species and they have teeth. But not like the other 2 :) Or splitting the tank in 2 with a divider and having 2 specimens.

Bang for the buck for filtration = wet/dry sump. Pick yourself up a used 55 - 75g and arrange it to suit your needs. Assuming your overflow can handle it, you can run a lot of water through a sump. You will get the water flow you are after. You can add foam blocks or socks to the sump if you need some mechanical filtration.

I would go with pirahna tank, and for water jets go with a few mag drive pumps , pondmaster's, check out webbs watergardens site for best price
