M banjar red is a juvenile on. Bought 5 days back. Wasnt eating... so the aquarium shop suggested to add aquarium salt to the tank. .ine is a small 40 gallon tank with te.p set at 29 degree centigrade and a filter. I dont use new water. I fill up water and keep them so only old water is used for the fishes. The fish was fine since after noon. Late night suddenly it started freaking out and started swimming upside down. It hasnt eaten anything since it came home. I immediately changed water and switched off heater. I am worried abt my banjar red. It started to swimming fine but again it started freaking out and swimming wierd and now its upside down again.
Can anyone pls help? I dont want my aro to die.

I’d suggest lower the water level so the fish can stay upright and reduce stress. I suspect trauma and not much can do except wait it out.

Sorry to see that Pritti. Young Arowana, esp. when newish to a tank, can get spooked very easily -- even more so at night when tank might get too dark, or even when a room light goes on or off.

Then when they freak out like that it's easy for them to hit something in the tank, which can cause traumatic injuries as kn4te mentions likely happened to yours. Really not too much you could have done after that point.

i really dont know wht exactly happened. the lights always switched on before its dark plus the tank light. when we enetered the room he was swimming fine. my husband usually watches him swim beautifully, before going to bed. so he was as usual watching the fish swim. we all saw him swim well. suddenly in abt 15 mins my hubby noticed him go bonkers and within no time he started swimming upside down. hence i did wht i thought was best although the water cudnt hv had ammonia built up since i put him just 5 days backnin the tank. i am just so so so sad.
