So how can you tell if the banjo cat is still in there or not. I have 3 (I think) in a 45G and haven't seen them in about a month. I do have a frog Marbled catfish in there aswell. Do you think he could have eaten them??
It is a sand substrate and I used to see them everymorning when I turned the light on, but not lately. So how can i find out if they are still in there?? With out destroying the setup.
Thanx in advance

What do you mean by a frog catfish? A chaca chaca?

I have a half dozen banjo cats, and I see them all in my dimly light tank daily. However, most people with banjos don't keep dim tank, so here's what I suggest:

Don't feed your tank for two days.
One day, feed a small amount to the diurnal fish. Turn off the lights.
Two hours or so later, feed the tank for the nocturnal fish. A flashlight will likely scare all the fish, so cover the light part with red tissue paper.
You may have to repeat this a few times to see all the cats in one go.
