Baramundi at the Fish Market?

So, I'm in Chinatown buying shrimp for my guys when I see this 12" Baramundi flopping around on a stack of ice. "$5.95", the man says. "You like?"
So I ask if he's got more and he takes me to the back of the shop where they have a huge holding tank full of 12" Baramundi.

I start flirting with temptation and scan the fish to see if I can find one that looks strong and healthy when I see a white one. I wont say platinum, but definitely white, several shades lighter than the rest.

I'm sure many have seen this before in the fish market but I found it striking considering the prices hobbyists/vendors fetch for these fish.

I promise, I will update this thread with photos next time I go down there.

I've never understood the appeal of Baramundi,but if I could find one for 6 bucks and sell it for 6 grand,I might start to see the appeal.

my market in chinatown sell barramundi also for 6 dollars

I think barramundi are great, i love mine They are quite rare in the UK as are most lates species i paid £45 for mine at 8" hes now around 11"

There are barramundi farms popping up in the US so you will see them much more frequently. You'll also start seeing them on menus....
