How often can you find baramundi for sale in the US? I remember quite a few people having them a few years back. Now it seems like they're never around at all. I was always interested in them so in doing some research I found that theres almost nothing regarding sales of them outside of frozen fish fillets. Did their importation/exportation get halted?

I haven't seen them in any shops for some time. They used to come in at small sizes occasionally.
Not sure where you live exactly but some Asian fish and supermarkets often have them live in their tanks for customers to select and purchase to cook and eat.I have seen them at nice sizes though some were in rough shape.

I've found a few for sale online just recently. I'll try to find it for you, comrade.

It looks like they sold out here but it may come back in stock so I'd check in every now and then.
Now, just by looking for them online I found this.
This suit your fancy?

If you wish to then you could contact the owner of the site and ask when he is going to be getting more but I've heard a few things about the owner, Steve, not being the best person to have to talk to. Not a bad person but just not the best.
Anyway, if you are wanting a high quality barramundi and are willing to pay a bit more then I would consider contacting some of our great vendors right here.

thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter bought a barramundi from Steve at exoticfishshop I believe.

Oh yes I just saw the page is exoticfishshop, ive bought a lot of bass from them. The owners not super friendly but hes always given me good customer service even when hes accidentally run out of stock I needed. He just doesnt seem to be a talker haha. I sent him a text and he said hed actually be getting a few in soon so Im preordering one now

That's awesome, I'm rather happy that it worked out very well for you so quickly.

Not sure where you live but most Asian Super market has them for a couple bucks a pound. I’d have a bucket with air pump ready. Theyre usually pretty big. I’d sweet talk the guy and say it’s religious to keep them alive before the kill, or slip him a 20. I got a 2’ sturgeon in my old pond like this ?

haha I want to grow one out so I need one under 12" to start with. But I have done that before to get black bass and cod. Works like a charm

My barramundi came from Wes. The ill-fated Nile perch came from Steve.

I have my doubts barramundi can easily live long term in freshwater, despite Wes' claims and the literature on the subject. My only try lasted 4 years, when my barra passed away at 34" seemingly for no good reason.
