I have a 45G with around 10 juvie convicts ( biggest one just under an inch). lately the alpha male and female had been diging. I knew what was going on, but the little cons toch so long to dig, i forgot about them getting ready to breed. 2-3 days ago my scice teacher gave me 2 sivler dollar sized female barbs (1 tiger, 1 green) they were very plump with eggs and healthy. unfortunitly i had to walk them home and they didn't survive the trip. I figured they didn't die from desease, so i figured the eggs were good for food. the only tank that would exept it was the convicts. out of mabe a couple hundred eggs per barb, not one hit the ground!. the already horny pair went crazy, and now i have an unditermined amount of free swimming convict fry swimming around. i know the parents can feed them to a certan extent, but what can i do to help have a better survival rate?

cover the filter intake tube with stocking or something the fry wont be able to get sucked in.

I wouldn't worry about the filter. its a large territory, and the fry. also the tank is in my bedroom, and i can't sleep with the annoying sound of water pouring, so it is a silent in tank box filter. they cloug easily, so it only has a light tricke. all the fish have been happy with it for a month or 2, so i decided to put off from unclogging the filter. the thing is, its clogged itself to the point were it dose its job, without fry risk.
Also my 10g is broken, and i have no other tank for the fry, and they are convicts. easy come, easy go. i will try to keep them alive As long as i can, but there are a good bunch of juvies and space for them to breed.

Also the the smart fry are eating micro particuls from the substrate. its a tiny substrate that is grain sized, left over from when i had dragon gobies in that tank. the parents move some grave, the fry eat there fill. the tank has no catfish/cleaners, so they seem to be feeding themselves. i can't count them, but i guess, for the moms size, i have somewhere between 25-75 fry
