i was looking in my tank and i saw my jurense with some white stringy stuff comming out of its barbel then i realised half of it was missing it seem to of got bitten or torn off will it grow back and is it life threating or will it just heal up any help would be great ful

It will probably heal up. Add some salt to help heal. But why is it torn like this? What are his tankmates?

2 things either it is torn as you suggest or he has some type of body fungus on it and it will spread if you do not treat. Increase the amount of salt in the tank and raise the temp to above 85 f. I am assuming it's the jurense in your avatar so this treatment should work fine. If it is damage from a fish bite such as pacu, ect. melafix should help. Your question is also in danger of being moved to the medical/fish desiese and health section too just so you know.

yeh i think its torn because i would of notice the fungus growth on it barbel, the tank mates are tinfoil barbs, jaguar cichlid, silver arowana, clown loaches, snake skin gourami, and sailfin plec

Just watch the situation. The barbels usually grow back depending on how much has been taken off.

no problem, it will grow back. make sure water clean at all time

Low ph will also make the barbels die back:)
