Looking up the two sp. it's a bit confusing.

I am looking for the scientific name of the tinfoil with the black bars on the tail and blotch on the dorsal.

Schwanefeldi have the black on their tails. Both species are very similar. I've seen claims that Altus are smaller but I had a shoal of 5 of them that were ~14".

Yeah I don't believe the size thing either.

For the most part of my memory I've always seen the regular red tail tinfoils being the size of dinner plates or larger and only till recent have I seen the black bar ones.

Yeah, defo schwanenfeldii for the genuine tinfoil with the black.

This is a pic of one of my altus.
