Bare bottom fire eel tank

I'm thinking about picking up a 12 inch fire eel and was wondering if it was possible to keep him in a bare bottom tank if I have enough PVC hiding spot

once theres a dark spot where he can dive into and feel safe, things should be okay. personally i find the way glare reflects off bare bottomed tanks to be rather high.
