I have an empty 10g, and a sponge filter and a heater. I think I should put in a male guppy and two females, and get some ornaments. But I'm thinking about going bare bottom with this; I've never gone bare bottom before. Is it a good idea?

Also, if I used a plastic plant to float as cover for the fry, how can I attach it so that it doesn't float around all the time? Thanks.

yeah theyre just guppies. dont think guppies need cover and territory. plus its easier for you to clean up and get the fry.

Personally, I love bare bottom tanks. I like to spray paint the bottom of mine black. I think it makes the tank easier to keep clean, and look better too. Just my $0.02

Guppies don't really need substrate. It'll be fine. As for plants, I'd say just let them float around, but if you want to weigh them down, just use a piece of driftwood and tie it on.

I agree with benzjamin13. I have to spray the bottom of a couple of my tanks, that sounds good, thanks jcardona 1
