Bare-bottom tanks

Has anyone tried putting tile in the bottom of a bare bottom tank? It seems like this would still be really easy to keep clean, but wouldn't look like crap either.

Ive seen it done, i fancid doing it myself but my tanks have bottom braces so if i used tiles there would be a gap where the water would stand and go stale and cause water problems.

both my tanks are barebottom. you only need substrate if you have a fish that burrows in it. i care more about easily keeping my tanks clean than how they look

i believe that was a thread up here about where a guy did it on the bottom of his tank might want to search for it
