Bare bottom vs. sand

Currently my 750 gallon plywood tank is just bare bottom. I have an RTC, alligator gar, and irwini catfish. Besides the fact that it is more natural, are there any additional benefits to adding a substrate? How often would you recommend that I vacuum it if I am feeding my fish every 3 or 4 days?

the more natural look is the main thing with adding sand compared to a bare bottom tank. you wouldn't have to vacuum any more than you would with a bare bottom tank
