Barley in pond?

Has anyone done this? does it affect the BB and bio filter? are there any cons that someone has experienced?

same thing for these "moss balls," has anyone used these?

Barley straw works great in ponds to prevent green water. It won’t affect your bio filter. No cons that I can think of and a great option instead of a UV. I would suggest the straw. Give it a month or less to start working to clear up your green water.

I use the barley extract in my pond. The barley straw will break down so you will have to clean it up.

I've used the straw before in my smaller pond and it worked well.
Where can I find barley extract? At a lowes/ home depot? I would like to try it in my new pond.
