barramundi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i dont know to much about them

but i know they grow very very fast i saw some 1/2inch fry for sale in a shop about 2 months ago and when i went back to the shop 2 days ago the same fish were 3inch+

Are Barramundi also known as Jardini arowana? Thats what I've seen them in lfs as, or are there more than one fish called that? Jardini, from what I've read here, can be very aggressive.... but very cool!
Last one I saw at lfs was 14" at least and looked awesome - beating up 2 huge Oscars in the same tank!
Are we talkin about the same fish?

Jardini are also known as the spotted barramundi. However they are completely different in appearance.

The barramundi in question here (Lates calcarifer) is more like a nile perch.

Here is mine...14 inch.

Need some help thinking about getting a barramundi do anyone have any info on them

They are very very easy to look after.

What size were you thinking of getting?

Mine will practically eat anything that hits the surface...mainly smelt, MP and beefheart. They can be trained onto pellets quite easily too.

They arn't too aggressive towards tankmates..just make sure that they cannot fit in their mouths.
