Anyone had any experience with keeping barramundi, any info on them would be so good. This includes what you have fed them, growth rate, success or lack of success. Anything at all.

base on sight and viewing shared experiences, i think its difficult, there is alot of demands to meet the fish basic aquatic basic ambience and difficult parameters to cope. even feed and getting it to take in food and see growth from stability to strenght within the aquarium, in out local scene, we see barramundi's in local restaurants and markets where the captivity is temporary and not lasting , so we do not know really if its viable in this sense,
i hope some bros can share and give a self home kept experience if otherwise the fish is able
thanks

firstly barramundi are very easy to care for. the fish is hardy and eats anything the olny problem is the predator behaviour and the size it can attain.

I've only had mine for two weeks or so but @ 18" he leaves alone a 1" butti, 5" flowerhorn and oscar and a 10" emporer cichlid which are the smallest in that tank. He has no interest in them. Sure stuff could start disappearing but at the moment he has no interest in eating tank mates.

He loves shrimp but not to the point where he wants to eat everyday. So scary when he eats though the loud crash of his lips sucking in a shrimp..

keep it only with fish at least a little more robust than itself otherwise it will have no problem taking hold of the other fish even if its too big too eat if it can fit it will go into its mouth

okay u sure that a barra. other wise that is starnge also i hope u have a mega tank?

Positive it's a barra.. either that or the hugest silver dat you've ever seen missing bars...

It had spent some time with neoprodigy and has passed through a couple different hands before his. So maybe luck, maybe it's used to prepared for a long time, or maybe he'll eat something one day out of the blue but yeah those are his tank mates and it works for right now. Like I said.. for right now. Don't know if it will work years down the road but as long as he keeps a cool temper and no one dissapears he may have smaller(even when full grown) tankmates permanantly. And yes my tank is somewhat monster and his permanant home will be monster for sure.
