Hey all my barred midas has paired with my orange and white female, will the fry be barred, orange, or a mix? Is there. A dominant gene like electric blue dempsey?
I dont have experience in midas but i would assume that the dominant color would be orange, with maybe a few light bars/stripes. as for recessive genes, from what i understand, the "white" is a color morph and that its not super uncommon. Its not on the level of EBJD where EBJDxEBJD = no no
View attachment 772242malefemale with white gills. They haven't layed yet that I can see but they are digging and won't leave each other, they defend my bog wood cave. Looking promising!
Thanks blue, I'm happy with him he was really drab with no hump until around 4 months ago... The female is a bit smaller so I'm hopeing she does the same!
No eggs yet, unless my pleco is eating them. I've seen her egg tube? They left each other alone for a bit, now they are digging again... Dunno if she's old enough, approx 8 months 8 inches??
Well I know now that all midas are barred To start out then about 4 inch they change to their adult colour unless they're barred of course... Unless I decide to set another tank up they either get eaten or be given to my lfs. Would be interesting tho, I may sort a tank yet!
