I have a spawn of barred midas that I am growing out, and I noticed that one started peeling. Excuse the pics, as there is a thick layer of duckweed, making everything look green - I'll have to clean the tank out and then try for a better pic. Both parents (pic below) are pure barred midas - the dad from COTA and the mom from Ken Davis. This is the first time I have raised any up to this size (they range from 2 to 6 inches). How often to pure barred midas peel like this, and do you think it will end up being pure orange?

A barred midas is simply a midas with normal typical color/markings. A percentage of offspring will peel. In the wild I believe that % that morph into what's referred to as the 'gold' morph is approx. 11%. How it will turn out when it matures is anyone's guess.
