Some people use a bit of air line tubing on the water surface to corral their duckweed and other floating plants. I'm not sure if you can just tie a knot in the ends and allow it to float or if it needs to be secured with a clothes pin or a clip to structure.

As Deeda said a tubing corral is a good solution.
What I use is an inner (smaller) floating ring that is tethered with dental floss and tape to the aquarium trim, and which is inside a free-floating (untethered), larger ring, which holds frogbit.
I feed flake food inside the smaller ring, and it holds the larger ring at about the position in the tank I have chosen.
During water changes, as the water level drops, the larger ring becomes free and I move it to the part of the tank I want, without spillin g the floating plants.
Fish learn quickly to go where they are fed (the rings), and that helps contain the food to a part of the tank where it is moast likedly to be eating quickly, and not flown everywhere.
In the picture below, there is little frogbit, because flagtail Prochi loves to eat it and I replace it frequently.

Nilsafeller Nilsafeller how low?
I had 2 apple snails.. neither one made it past several months.. I dont think they have a lengthy life span as it is but from what I read after the fact is that over 25 celcius and their lifespan shortens but they are more mobile and grow faster
