Just a quick thread to say hello to the community. I'm a new member and wanted to share some pics of my saratoga after they move (in wich he thought the water was clearer on the other side of the tank, and jumped out to find it was just AIR:) I am in the process of laser cutting some perspex lids to stop him from getting out. I only have a cheap camera so I hope you can see the pics. Enjoy

Thanx. He's about 25-28cm

28cm is about 11 inches (based on conversions... ) that seems a bit small for the pictures taken back in 2005...

ahhh cool cool.. no worries...

I must say.. thats a very colorful Jardini.. love the red tail fins...

So i gotta ask... Is it legal to catch jardini in the wild??? i mean.. it is located in your part of the world.. and i've seen pictures of people fishing for them...

PS: what are the prices of Jardini and Lei in Australia ??? I know you guys have it bad with Silvers......

We catch saratoga's in the dams legally, but i don't think they have the wiskers? I shall do some research and see how they are related. I have caught and relased some saratoga's edging towards the 3ft mark. They are good to catch but full of bones.
As for the price. I paid $115 AUD for him when he was 11cm

I will also add that the first picture was taken in the 4ft tank, and the last ones where taken in the new 6ft home. Notice the colour he lost from the jump. He is darkening up a bit since the move.

thats must be awesome to be able to catch jardini/lei from dams...

Its too bad that in the US.. most of our native species are illegal to fish... and theres too much laws over having them in your part of the state and what not... especially HR669 ...... :irked:
