Alright, let's see if I can get all of this information right so someone might be able to help, haah..First of all, I bought this fish and tank setup about a month ago and it had already been up and running for a year.

I've got a 120gallon 4'x2'x2' tank with one 10" male dovii, on Tuesday I noticed one of his fins was inflamed, a light pinkish/reddish color. It doesn't seem to be bothering him as he's eating fine and swimming fine. PH is 7.3ish, ammonia/nitrates are 0 (API Master Test Kit was used, LFS was used to determine the PH), water temp is 80º, filtration is a 29gallon sump below the tank with 2400gallon pump restricted to around half of that. I left it set to where it was with the previous owner. There are no live plants, sun light doesn't hit the tank but does light up the room some so I only turn on lights for 5-6 hours a day usually in the evening. Last water change was on Saturday, about 30% of the water was taken out. I have not treated him yet but while talking with a guy at the LFS he said it doesn't sound like fin rot he recommended I get some melafix and treat him, I did buy some but have not used it yet as I want to get your recommendation first. Below are two pictures of the inflamed fin. If I left out some information you need please let me know and I'll update as soon as I can.

It could be Your fish are affected by Hemorrhagic Septicemia. Keep an close close eye for red streaks in the body.

I started treating with melafix two days ago, should I continue using it or stop for now and just keep an eye on him and do more frequent water changes?

Well I didn't add any more melafix, did a 50% water change and then after a few days the redness on that fin went away..so atleast for now whatever it may have been is gone, i hope.
