I am contructing an addition to my home, and had a section of the concrete floor thickened for my new 960G, and 720G.

Stupidly, I only did a section, as any MFK member can guess - I want to add more monster tanks.....

Should I be concerned if I wanted to place another 550G in a couple spots of the "non" thickened floor?

Would it create any problems - or is their a simple way to distribute the weight?

The 550G would have a foot print of 8x4

You could always pour an extra curb of concrete. If you can evenly distribute the weight it should not be a problem, or at least spread the weight a bit by having a large contact area footprint for the stand. 550g + tank etc is about 5000lbs, 8*4 = 4608 square inches, so if the weight is distributed evenly, then that is only 1.09psi, which is tiny btw.

Easy enough to make a stand in such a fashion. I will make sure to spread the weight out as you mentionedm

Thank you,

Yeah no problem just how thick it is now...
For example take the weight of your vehicle and divide it by the <1square foot of tire contact...so approx 4000lbs divided by 4 sq. ft.=1000lbs per sq ft
1000 divided by 144sq in = 27 PSI :D

The building engineer expressed some conncern... lol

Extra cautious for no reason, at the expense of my pocket book ....

Thanks guys.

good news though, Now I can fit more monsters!

If the engineer expressed concern, I would obviously think very hard about his opinion above anyone else here. Though, my opinion is it should be fine unless you have a VERY thin layer of concrete. Concrete can handle much more PSI than 2x4s / 2x6s / 4x4s

Exactly...Just ask him why the family car doesn't fall through the driveway ;) ;) ;)

If it makes you feel better, I am planning on building a 500-1000 gallon tank in my standard issue basement. I have not worries about it.
