Anyone here familiar with basilisks and could provide some hands on insight about them? I have been looking at getting one for years and have done a good amount of research on them. When my house is done being built in June I am really toying with the idea on getting one. Im just looking for any information someone may have from owning one themselves. Also, equiptment wise. If anyone has suggestions on good brands, or good equiptment that will help aid in making the tank as liveable as possible. I am aware of the conditions with temp and humidity they need, so more so the best way to achieve it.

How about tank set up, what have you guys used in the past, 55? 60? 120g? etc. And how do you normally set them up. I couldnt really find any active forums on them so I figured I'd give it a shot here. I saw some cool photos on google images of enclosures that were supposed to be for basilisks but I had no way of really knowing for sure.

Thanks!

hey I got my basilisk in February and he is currently growing out in a 39gal tall, he comes out and explores every other day and is tame and handlable. they are very jumpy though and can be hard to catch. as far as most reptiles go they are definately worth getting. They require a bit more effort than say a beardie, but I feed mine every day, mist him at least twice a day and he shares his enclosure with a redfoot tortoise. in a couple of months I plan on building a custome vivarium for him as it will be a lot easier this way than buying an expensive one.

all I will need is some wood, an epoxy resin to waterproof it and stop it from rotting, and a glass sliding front (fibre glass or clear plastic/acrylic). the manufactured cages are very nice but they also run a very high price tag
