I have 3 baby RES, 1 albino 2 normal... the albino basks all the time, he loves to just hangout on the dock. I almost never see the other 2 bask. They were bought separately from the albino (which was from a proper breeder)... do they just not know they should be basking? will they pick it up?

Male sure the basking spot is a good bit warmer than the water/rest of the habitat. Mine has a UVB bulb and a regular 60 watt. The UVB throws almost no heat and if the 60w isn't on he normally wont bask.

sorry, i should have mentioned, it's a mercury vapor bulb (zoomed 100w)... makes a lot of heat.

Turtles only bask when they feel comfortable, your Albino may just have settled in quicker than the others. Give them time and they will start to bask, they might be already when you're not looking :)

Best,
Paul

Also make sure theres enough room for all of them. And try and see if the albino is preventing the other two from basking. This happened with my pair for a little while where the Reeves wouldn't lets the Map bask. That behavior kinda just went away after a bit.

thanks for the advise.

i think the space is enough...

the green ones are terrified of me, the albino doesn't seem to really mind me... he just stares at me. if i have my hand in the tank for something he'll just swim past me, the others bolt for the farthest corner. they're probably just not settled in yet.
