Hi everyone! This Sunday I caught a largemouth and 2 green sunfish and I brought them home to put in my 90 gal tank. It has been one night and the bass seems to be doing okay. He kind of just sits at the bottom and every now and then he will surface slowly and then move to a corner. However, the sunfish seem strange, one swims sideways at topwater (looks like he's struggling to stay submerged) and the other suspends vertical beneath a large branch:screwy:. They both seem to be breathing but, i've never kept natives and I'm not sure how they should act. Any advice helps. Thanks!

Give them a lil more time but it dont sound good for the sunfish. What temp is your water at? Try to keep it in the 60s if possible. Are there other fish in the tank picking on them?

One Sunfish already died. The other one doesn't look so hot. There's one 5" pleco and three feeder goldfish. The water is at 74.5 I don't know how to chill it quickly. I got them from a very large lake so, I figure the temp should be very similar. Pray for my bass.

freeze empty coke bottles and place in tank, should lower the temp.

IDK about sunfish, but bass are pretty hardy creatures. Im not sayin he'll live for sure, but there pretty hardy. Over time i would put an aerator in their. thats a way to prevent anymore of your fish from dyin

There's an air rock and good filtration. I'm more worried about the temperature shock more than anything else. I hope he snaps out of it. I'm sure the other sunfish is soon to be a goner.

maybe they are stressed out from being caught and kept in that size tank. how big is the bass? the sunfish? the pleco? to keep a bass for its full life you will at least need a 125g, but if they are not very big you should be ok for now

The bass is 12" (smallest one I could catch). The Pleco is juvenile (4") and the sunfish is about 6". The sunfish won't make it I don't think but, the bass doesn't seem to be doing too bad. He still rests at the bottom with very little movement. What is the recovery rate for temp shock and/or ph shock? I should have checked the ph in the lake.

the bass just needs some adjusting time. he is just a little stressed out
