I have had this combination many times. They are getting along quite well considering that both are fairly territorial species. Maybe they are just happy there were enough bluegill sunfish in there to fill them both up! Surprisingly, they even tend to "school" together most of the time in very close proximity to one another, often side by side nearly touching. I have had bass and pickerel together before with no problems. Just have to keep everyone fed and water quality sparkling for those 240 gallons. These guys can get messy. Given their size I am limiting the tank to just these two fish. The pickerel is still healing from some minor jaw injuries after being caught. I think he is coming along fine. Sure isn't affecting his eating! (Notice his lumpy gut) Right now the tank is in my workshop. I set it back up because I didn't want it to sit empty and dry for a long time. Sorry for the semi-crappy camera phone pics. I am adding more wood structure and plants once I get around to updating it. This is step one.

Looks great. couple nice size fish in a large tank

The tank is a 210 gallon with a 40 gallon sump for filtration. I'd say it all adds up in function to about a 235 gallon circulation of water considering the sump tank isn't full to the top.
