hey im having trouble to get my australian bass to eat hasent eaten(that ive seen) in a few days since i got him and hes not eating at all ive offered him bloodworms flakes pellets rawfish etc. going to call up the place igto it from again to see whats the go. i havent seen him eat so does that count as starving.

What the heck is an Australian Bass?

yeh i am extremely insterested in australian perchiforms. more so predatory medium sized ones. but the one hting i cant do is get this one to feed.

Australian bass are predators, and as such may be reluctant to take anything except live food. Maybe you can try the converting off live food method suggested in this thread

A friend and I caught some juveniles to stock a local tackle store's aquarium, but they were never able to be weened off live food. Another friend had 3 in his tanks, and they very reluctantly took dead earthworms, but throw in anything live, and they go crazy. Its certainly possible though, as there's a local dam here that has bass that go crazy over bread of all things - I think its because they get conditioned to eating bread from people feeding ducks.

yeh i dunno you sure you got bass. all the places ive been to (including petshop i got it from) and other public aquariums have them on pellets and flakes and give them an occasional treat. you probably got Macquaria colonorum

Nah mate, I'm pretty sure they're bass and not estuary perch, been catching them for years.:)

Mind you, all the bass I've had experience with have been wild caught specimens, the ones in pet stores are probaly hatchery raised fish, so are probaly accustomed to pellets.
