Finally saw the little Kelberi eat a food stick after watching the two smaller mono’s (came pellet trained) do it...

Been a pain in the arse...

2 kel/2 tem-azul hybrids came to me raised on frozen feeders...

Been trying everything....

Patience it seems...

always such an awesome day when they first start hitting pellets. Growth goes up exponentially. Its even more special considering, in my opinion, Kelberi are the most stubborn when it comes to bass conversion.

I’m not all the way home... 4/8 on the pellets...

Got a group of 5 (2 solid pellet eaters,1 still learning, 2 hold outs) and group of 3 ( 1-2 were pretty solid pellet eaters, 1 hold out) I had them eating sinking Massivore as I did not want them to compete with future arow for food... thinking that mistake, floating carni sticks seem better...

Gonna add 2 silver dollars from another tank to each group as folks have said this may be helpful? Or just stick with patience and the monkey see, monkey do approach?

In my experience Kelberi have never followed the hive mind style of once ones eating pellets, they all eat them. Kelberi are incredibly stubborn for some reason and the only way Ive ever got any of them [4 in total] over 4" to eat anything dead has been very long starvations with a few live grass shrimp every week or two. As for food, hikari carni sticks are fine but I highly highly recommend Omega One Super Cichlid Color. They really help boost color and are also pretty high in protein. They arent as high as massivore, but they trade about 7% protein for a bunch of immunity and health boosting ingredients and you can pretty much get protein anywhere to mix in. Its also like 1/3rd the price of massivore who I feel is a bit greedy in their pricings.

Thanks for the tip, I think I have that... been feeding it around to the smaller fish...

they are 4 days starving now, they will eat frozen bloodworms sporadically.... Once tank space is not an issue and related aggression I’ll go with the pellet / starvation method...

Added the SD’s to the group of 3 (2 farmy/1hybrid) the SD’s will at least be able to pig out as there is no other completion for food sadly...

Update :

Everyone’s eating bloodworms at least with some random vibra bites mixed in...

added some pics of the two tem/azul hybrids ...

it’s interesting the Dominant colors vs not...

The less dominant one is in with my two larger “farmies” 150g

the other one that’s dominant is in with the 2 Kelberi /2 farmie (120g) as he got beat up in the 150g

Anywho, as we all sit home with our fish... did not want to start a new thread about fish until tank comes... hopefully Saturday ?
