I moved to Raleigh a few weeks ago, and I've managed to bag a bunch of bass on a few quick trips. Biggest was maybe 3 lbs, but I lost him while fiddling with the damn camera. Most fish are in the 9-13" range, mostly on plastic worms, a few on the crankbait as well.

welcome to NC!

Thanks everyone. It's definitely a big difference fishing-wise. I did better today, 6 fish in two hours, 1.6 lbs being the biggest LMB. I need to find a spot to launch my kayak if I want to find the big boys, they are all deep at this point.

nice fish!
I moved from Massapequa NY to GA and the fishing is different. Im used to saltwater but managed to get some nice bass in my 1st year of bass fishing. In roughly 1yr of experience of bassin i landed, 1 10lber, 1 7.5lber, and lost a 6lberon shore doesnt count tho, and a 5ish lber. Im an experienced fishermen so the change wasent any affect to me.
And some tips for the big ones,
topwaters,
worms, 5in +
large cranks
Use our head and dont get discouraged, usually helps me when im having a rough day

wacky rig kills the bass around my parts and so do shad raps. 8 fish in 20 minutes.

yea just experiment, i caught the 10lber on a 2 1/2 in. Rapala F-7, and pay attention on how the lake/pond is stocked, i found that lmb grow/attack better stocked with, bluegill, redear, crappie, lmb stocked. My uncle has a pond, caught an 11ber with that exact stock and a wild pond has that and fish grow and attack better than normal. I still cannot understand why.

Thanks guys, I've been fishing salt and flies for trout for over 25 years. Sure, I've caught plenty of largemouth along the way, mostly on live bait, or randomly on poppers or spinners. The plastic worm thing is new for me, but I'm getting the hang of it quickly. I'm finding it's different reading real lakes as opposed to the shallower ponds I'm used to when you don't have a depth finder. I'm enjoying casting smaller weights on baitcasters, it's a new challenge for me to master. I'm not bad, just need to improve some accuracy and consistency.
